A baby!!

So apparently I'm horrible at keeping a blog. It's been over a year since my last post, but hopefully I can do better starting....now! A ton has happened in the last year. I finally got pregnant and had my little cutie D. I'm not sure how many people know that we had trouble getting pregnant. It took over a year of trying, tests, and medication to get there. It was difficult, but not nearly as difficult as it has been for others so we feel pretty lucky. My pregnancy was easy at first, no morning sickness, yay! However, once I got about halfway through it was not easy. I was very uncomfortable and had horrible heartburn and other painful side effects. Thankfully everything went really smoothly for the baby though. It felt like my pregnancy lasted FOREVER! I'm so tiny that carrying a baby was really hard at the end. I was very anxious to meet my little guy and have my body to myself again. I was dilated to 2cm about 4 weeks before my due date so we thought I would have him early, but it didn't happen as early as I thought it would. My due date was 3/31/13 and he decided to come on the 28th. Here's the crazy story for those that haven't heard it: (This may be TMI for some, so you've been warned.) I had gone to bed early the night of the 27th at about 9 pm. I woke up at 11:30 pm to pee (a very common thing at the end of my pregnancy haha) and my water broke on the way to the bathroom. I didn't realize it was my water breaking at first since it was several small gushes, but after I peed and tried to get off the toilet another gush happened so I figured it out. I was home alone since Cody was still at work so I had to call him to come home and take me to the hospital. I had to wait on the toilet since I would get water everywhere and called my mom to keep me calm. A few minutes after my water broke I started having contractions and they started at about 5 minutes apart. I was so nervous we wouldn't make it to the hospital on time! On the way to the hospital I stayed on the phone with my mom and she kept track of the timing. When we got there my contractions were 2 minutes apart and VERY intense. I had originally wanted to do a natural birth with no medication, but once I felt those contactions I wanted the epidural. I told the nurses at the hospital I wanted the epidural as soon as possible, but I had to get checked and have an IV first. When I first arrived I was dilated 3 cm and 100% effaced. It took about 10-15 minutes for them to get the IV in because she was having trouble finding my vein. Once they got it in things felt different and they decided to check me again. Well, I was already dilated 10 cm by then. So they said it was too late to get an epidural. I started pushing and we figured out he was facing up, which is not what they want, so the on call doctor there was trying to get him to turn around. That meant I had to stop pushing for a little bit and keep changing my position from side to side. After a little bit I told them I had to push because I could tell he was coming down and ready to be out. It hurt like hell, but I was really proud of myself at the end for doing it completely natural. Damion was born at 1:36 am on March 28th. He was 6 lb 6 oz and 18 inches long. My entire labor lasted 2 hours. It was insane! Little D is perfect and healthy. He's been a really good baby so far. He is 3 months old now and sleeps about 8-9 hours a night. He's been eating pretty well, but breastfeeding is definitly not easy. We're still going though. He's only had formula once in his first week. Hopefully I can keep this up until he's 6 months, but he will probably be able to start eating cereal soon. We'll see how things go!
