Summer Fun
This summer we've been trying to get out and have as much fun as possible, but it's definitely more difficult with a baby. Especially when it comes to nursing and pumping. Yesterday we were able to go to Seven Peaks with my family. We were just missing Kristina and Ashley since they are in Idaho. We had a lot of fun, but I think if we go again we'll make sure to go during the week to avoid so many crowds. The slides are really fun, but not really worth it to me when you have to spend an hour in line waiting. We spent a lot of our time in the lazy river and wave pool. Damion wasn't thrilled about the cooler water, but the wave pool is heated so he seemed to really enjoy that. We just sat in the very shallow end and let the waves come to us. Damion would splash around with the most concentrated look on his face. I wish I had been able to get a picture or video, but we didn't have a camera with us since we didn't want it to get wet.
Damion has been doing really well. He can roll over from his stomach to his back now, but he doesn't do it very often. He's still working on going from his back to his stomach. I think it will just be a little while before he's going back and forth and doing a complete roll. He also recently started to do his own little version of talking. It's really fun to hear him trying to communicate. He'll have his 4 month appointment in about a week so we'll talk to the doctor about starting him on cereal and baby food soon. I'm excited to see his reactions to tasting new things.
Everything else is pretty much the same with us. We spend lots of time working, but any other time left is used to spend with our family.

A baby!!
So apparently I'm horrible at keeping a blog. It's been over a year since my last post, but hopefully I can do better starting....now! A ton has happened in the last year. I finally got pregnant and had my little cutie D.
I'm not sure how many people know that we had trouble getting pregnant. It took over a year of trying, tests, and medication to get there. It was difficult, but not nearly as difficult as it has been for others so we feel pretty lucky. My pregnancy was easy at first, no morning sickness, yay! However, once I got about halfway through it was not easy. I was very uncomfortable and had horrible heartburn and other painful side effects. Thankfully everything went really smoothly for the baby though. It felt like my pregnancy lasted FOREVER! I'm so tiny that carrying a baby was really hard at the end. I was very anxious to meet my little guy and have my body to myself again.
I was dilated to 2cm about 4 weeks before my due date so we thought I would have him early, but it didn't happen as early as I thought it would. My due date was 3/31/13 and he decided to come on the 28th. Here's the crazy story for those that haven't heard it: (This may be TMI for some, so you've been warned.)
I had gone to bed early the night of the 27th at about 9 pm. I woke up at 11:30 pm to pee (a very common thing at the end of my pregnancy haha) and my water broke on the way to the bathroom. I didn't realize it was my water breaking at first since it was several small gushes, but after I peed and tried to get off the toilet another gush happened so I figured it out. I was home alone since Cody was still at work so I had to call him to come home and take me to the hospital. I had to wait on the toilet since I would get water everywhere and called my mom to keep me calm. A few minutes after my water broke I started having contractions and they started at about 5 minutes apart. I was so nervous we wouldn't make it to the hospital on time! On the way to the hospital I stayed on the phone with my mom and she kept track of the timing. When we got there my contractions were 2 minutes apart and VERY intense.
I had originally wanted to do a natural birth with no medication, but once I felt those contactions I wanted the epidural. I told the nurses at the hospital I wanted the epidural as soon as possible, but I had to get checked and have an IV first. When I first arrived I was dilated 3 cm and 100% effaced. It took about 10-15 minutes for them to get the IV in because she was having trouble finding my vein. Once they got it in things felt different and they decided to check me again. Well, I was already dilated 10 cm by then. So they said it was too late to get an epidural. I started pushing and we figured out he was facing up, which is not what they want, so the on call doctor there was trying to get him to turn around. That meant I had to stop pushing for a little bit and keep changing my position from side to side. After a little bit I told them I had to push because I could tell he was coming down and ready to be out. It hurt like hell, but I was really proud of myself at the end for doing it completely natural. Damion was born at 1:36 am on March 28th. He was 6 lb 6 oz and 18 inches long. My entire labor lasted 2 hours. It was insane!
Little D is perfect and healthy. He's been a really good baby so far. He is 3 months old now and sleeps about 8-9 hours a night. He's been eating pretty well, but breastfeeding is definitly not easy. We're still going though. He's only had formula once in his first week. Hopefully I can keep this up until he's 6 months, but he will probably be able to start eating cereal soon. We'll see how things go!

Summer!!!
I'm so excited that summer is finally here! I love the warm weather and all the fun activities that go along with it. Hopefully my work schedule will get better so I can actually participate and enjoy the activities I want to. June is a super exciting month this year. My little brother Danny is coming home from his mission on June 12th. I can't believe its already been 2 years, but I'm so ready to see him again. I'm pretty sure that the airport will be emotional, cause well, its my family. hahaha. Hopefully he's gotten a little bit more meat on him, but so far the pictures he's sent us doesn't show much change. I'll have to get him to teach me spanish now.
Since Danny is coming home and I have a new neice my grandparents and my older sister, Kristina (and her husband), will be coming into town to visit for a week. I'm really looking forward to having our whole family together again for the first time in 2 years. I'm sure we'll have some fun times.
Another exciting thing about June is mine and Cody's anniversary is at the end of this month. Its crazy that we've been married for almost 2 years now. The time has gone by really fast. It's been a great 2 years and a hard 2 years. Marriage (relationships) is not easy, but I really think its worth it. I know Cody and I have grown and improved a ton in the last 7.5 years. We're planning to go up to Logan to stay at the Anniversary Inn for our anniversary this year so it should be really fun. It will be so nice to get away and spend some time together just the 2 of us. With my work schedule right now I feel like we hardly ever get any time together. But I guess that's just how life goes sometimes.
Overall June should be a pretty fantastic month!! Hopefully the whole summer will turn out great. I've started a list of the things I want to do this summer. They are:
-Bear Lake
-Lots of hiking
-Camping
-Swimming
-Antelope Island
-Logan for anniversary
-Jordenelle lake
I'm sure there will be lots more stuff that I'll come up with so let's hope we can make them all happen. If only I didn't have to work.... being an adult really sucks sometimes. Anyway, hope life is happy and fun for everyone!

New Year
Well, its officially a new year. I'm not sure how I feel about it being 2012 already. This past year went by so fast. It was a great year though. April and Larry's wedding, trip to Moab, my sister getting pregnant, etc....
I'm hoping this next year will be even better. I didn't put much thought into my resolutions before today. I really liked my husband's answer last night and I think I'll adopt it as part of my resolutions- "Be happy". Its so simple and yet sometimes the most difficult thing to do. I get so wrapped up in the stress of everyday life that I forget to stop and just enjoy life. I'm always worrying about the next thing I have to do. This year I'm going to try and worry less and work harder at being happy everyday.
Another resoluion I'm going to try and stick to this year is saving up money. I'm a horrible saver, but I keep trying to get better. I think I make this resolution every year and never really make improvement. At least I haven't gotten worse, hahahaha. I've been able to keep myself from getting in major debt so I guess that's pretty good.
I know this one is really cliche, but I also want to exercise more this year. I don't need to lose weight, but I'd like to be in better shape. Maybe someday I can walk up all the stairs at work without being out of breath, haha. At least I do take the stairs every time I go in though. That's good, right?
Next resolution is to better my position at work. I actually applied for another position a couple weeks ago and I'm currently waiting to hear back about it. My interview was last week and it went pretty well, I think. We'll just see what happens, I guess. I'm crossing my fingers that I'll get it.
I think that's about it for the resolutions, at least the ones I can share here. hehe ;) I hope everyone has a fantastic year and has many good memories of the past one.

Bathroom Done!
We finally got our bathroom done a few weeks ago. Its been so nice to be able to use that shower again. I swear we take much longer showers now than we used to because our new shower head is sooo fantastic! We have a big rain shower head at the top and then a hand held shower head and body jets. Its very cool. I really love the way the whole bathroom turned out and its such a great feeling when you accomplish a big project like this. Here's some before pictures:
The floor is my favorite part. It was our one splurge item and it looks fabulous. Much better than the tile we had before. My dad did a great job on the whole project. We can't take credit for much of it. If you need a handyman he's the one to call!
And now the after pictures!!!

Trying this out
So I've decided to try blogging. Not sure if I'll keep up with it or like it, but here goes. Cody and I have been married for a little over a year now. I can't believe how fast time goes by. We bought a house about 2 and a half years ago. Its an older house, built in 1976, so we spend a lot of time working on it to update it and makes things better for us. So I'll probably blog mostly about our current project. We have a long list of things we want to change, but we've also made some great progress. We re-did and extended our driveway on the side of the house this summer. Thats made a big impact on the house and gives us extra room to park.
We're currently working on our upstairs bathroom. Its been a looong process. The only reason we're even doing it is because our shower broke. The only way to fix it was to tear down the tile on that wall to get to the plumbing. This actually happened in June, so for about 4 months we've been using our downstairs shower. It really sucked. My dad has been helping us a ton, he's actually done pretty much all of the work. We finally got the shower finished last week and have been able to use it for the last few days. Its glorious! We even spent a little bit more than we needed to so we could have some really nice tiles and shower head. We also painted the bathroom on Friday and it looks awesome. Now we just have to tile the floor and get some molding in there and it will be done. I can't wait! Once everything is done I'll post some pictures. It should look really nice.
